Currently picturing the next deadline day. Van Persie to Malaga and Berbatov to PSG, I can feel it.

Pretty medieval manuscript of the day is another from the National Archives’ Flickr account. It turns out to be a goldmine of Creative Commons licensed images!

Turbulent Priest
Description: Pen portrait of a man in clerical dress (probably Thomas Beckett) being hit on the head with a sword, from a book of treasury receipts.
Date: c.1290
Our Catalogue Reference: E 36/274

Admittedly, it isn’t the most pretty, so perhaps it doesn’t deserve to be here quite as much as the Tres Riches Heures… but it is rather fun, in a macabre way. It certainly livens up the Treasury receipts (yawn).  It reminds me of a child’s doodles in the margins of their school exercise book.

All of my margin doodles were ultraviolent, too.
