It was ladies and children under-12 night in the Fenerbahce vs. Maispor game due to a ban on men handed down by the Turkish FA due to a violent pitch invasion that occurred during a pre-season friendly. Our friends at Soccerpolitics wrote a great analysis of the meaning behind the night’s events. How about that atmosphere?
But, violence is fun…
Speaking of which, there’s violence here.
Who remembers FIFA Street? Of course you do.
It was EA Sports’ football game that was as much about throwing elbows, style points and kicking around behind a Berlin nightclub as the beautiful game itself. Well guess what? It’s back. EA Sports are bringing football to the streets once more and the game is set to launch in Spring 2012. Street locations this time around include the classics like Rio, Marseille, Paris, Venice, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, London, New York, Amsterdam, and Berlin, but also Dubai, Shanghai, St. Petersberg, Tokyo, Dubrovnik, Munich, and more. Just remember to stay hydrated in Dubai. No alcohol though, we don’t want you going from the streets to winding up in jail.
Not a moment too soon.
